Director of Philanthropic Affairs, The Allyn Foundation

The Allyn Foundation was founded in 1954 by David’s great-grandfather and grandfather. David, along with all the Allyn Family members, has a deep affinity for the mission and values of the Allyn Family Foundation.

Before joining the Allyn Family Foundation, David was employed at Welch Allyn Inc. for over 25 years. While at Welch Allyn, David spent a majority of his career within various sales and marketing roles. Since 2012, David served as Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. In this role, David developed the Company’s goals and strategies for engagement in the community. As Director, David received and reviewed proposals for supporting community events as well as developed many employee engagement opportunities, most significantly the Show of Hands, an all-day community service event for employees.

David has always been deeply engaged in the CNY community. He has served on the Board of the Allyn Family Foundation for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Syracuse Community Health Center Foundation Board from 2001-2010, and became Co-Chair for the Foundation. In 2012, David joined the Rescue Mission Board and is currently the Chair for their Capital Campaign and serves on the Executive Committee. David is also a member of the Skaneateles Community Center Board of Directors. Outside Central New York, David serves on the Board of Heart to Heart, a humanitarian NGO (non-government organization) which provides disaster relief around the world, as well as the Board of Trustees of Kimball Union Academy, a preparatory school in New Hampshire.

A graduate of Gettysburg College, David maintains an active household with his wife Amy and his 4 children. David is also in a band, The Mere Mortals, which keeps active in Central New York.

Dr. Berbee is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison (Mechanical Engineering, Finance and Investment Banking). He worked as a systems engineer at IBM for four years before starting his IT company, Berbee Information Networks Corporation. Over the next 13 years, the company grew to 800 staff and more than $300 million in revenue. After selling Berbee to the public company CDW, he attended Stanford University where he obtained his medical degree. He completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Hospital and Clinics. He is a board-certified emergency physician in Wisconsin. His interest in otoscopy occurred because of frustration with the current technology available for the pediatric ear exam.

Dr. Berbee has been awarded the University of Wisconsin College of Engineering Distinguished Achievement Award, the Wisconsin Entrepreneurial Achievement Award, the Ken Hendricks “Seize the Day” Award and the University of Wisconsin Distinguished Alumni Award. He and his wife, Karen Walsh, are active in their home state of Wisconsin. Their private foundation, The BerbeeWalsh Foundation, supports human health and wellness, healthy lifestyles and animal welfare.

Senior Vice President, Solutions at Nextgen Healthcare (NASDAQ: NXGN)

Scott is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the global medical device and health information technology solutions markets. Scott was previously president of EagleDream Health, a big data analytics and population health management software company enabling healthcare providers in value-based care delivery, which successfully exited to NextGen in August 2017. Scott previously held a variety of executive leadership positions at Welch Allyn, including P&L responsibility for the $700MM company’s largest business unit, and leadership of global product management, R&D, marketing, and new healthcare delivery solutions, in which he led the company’s corporate entrepreneurship ventures.

Scott is also a board director of Adaptable Ortho Innovations, an early stage surgical device innovator, and Liberty Resources, a diversified human services and behavioral healthcare provider. His past experience includes being adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Syracuse University and board chair of MedTech Association.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University and an MBA from Simon Business School at University of Rochester.

Co-Founder, WiscMed

Dr. Hamedani is a graduate of Yale College (Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry) and Yale University School of Medicine. She trained in emergency medicine at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program (Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital). She also received her Masters in Public Health, with a focus on Health Care Administration & Policy, from the Yale University School of Public Health. More recently, she received her Masters in Business Administration through Kellogg School of Management Executive MBA program.

Dr. Hamedani returned to her home state of Wisconsin in 2006 to join the faculty at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health. She took on the role of Director of Quality for the Emergency Department before being named Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine in 2009. Under Dr. Hamedani’s leadership the Division of Emergency Medicine launched multiple successful clinical, educational, and academic programs, culminating in the founding of the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine in 2014. Dr. Hamedani served as the founding Chair of the department until 2022. She is now holds the named chair “The Wisconsin Endowed Chair of Leadership in Emergency Medicine.”

Dr. Hamedani has won numerous awards throughout her career, including Outstanding ED Medical Director of the Year Award, Service to Profession Award, and most recently, the Wisconsin American College of Emergency Physician’s Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Hamedani’s interest in WiscMed is rooted in a broader interest in disruptive innovation in health care as a means to improve patient care and decrease health care costs.

President & Chief Operating Officer of GCI

As part of his duties with GCI, Bill serves as a board member for its portfolio company investments and actively works with leadership teams to develop strategic insight and opportunities.

Before joining GCI in 1991, Bill worked at Arthur Andersen, where he gained exposure to public reporting, internal controls, and securities regulation requirements for large, publicly held companies. He also worked with entrepreneurs in a variety of small businesses, helping them develop strategic plans, accounting systems, and financial controls.

In addition to his other duties, Bill provides oversight and management to all of the Comer family investment portfolios and trusts, family assets, and financial planning. He is a board member of the Comer Science and Education Foundation and the Medical Home Network and actively participates in their philanthropic activities.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a CPA.

President & Chief Executive Officer of Singlewire

He has led the strategic direction of the company since its founding in 2009. Under Paul’s direction, the Singlewire team has grown from a handful of people to over 100 employees.

Paul is a seasoned technology industry executive who previously was Senior Vice President and Executive Committee Member at CDW, a leading provider of technology products and services for business, government, and education.

Prior to CDW, Paul was CEO of Madison-based Berbee Information Networks Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CDW Corporation, acquired by CDW in October 2006. Paul began his career in the Investment business, serving as Managing Director and Director of Research for Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc., a regional investment banking firm headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. Paul’s focus at Baird was the Information Technology Services space.

Paul graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a bachelor’s degree and MBA in finance. Paul holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and has served on executive partner councils for both IBM Corporation and Cisco Systems. In addition, Paul currently serves on the board of directors for Fiduciary Management Inc., American Family Insurance Company, and the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association.
